Notes to self

  • They're Made Of Meat - the short film of Terry Bisson's short story. Inspiration for a forthcoming project.
  • List of unusual words. Useful for a current project...
  • 2054 is a film by Lean Mean Fighting Machine, an online ad agency, set in 2054 (duh) looking at their progress over the years. Oddly touching. They also did their own version of Hello but the pop culture reference is kind of lost on me - before my time, innit?
  • First person pinball - FTW, due to "the improved aiming possibilites the perspective provides."
  • Reach a state of linguistic flow with the Human Brain Cloud word game.
  • Come Out And Play, the urban gaming festival, is coming to Amsterdam for the PICNIC conference this September. I might be running a game for it, or will be helping out here and there at the very least - although it will involve a 6am flight on a Friday morning after the Creative Partnerships Reader/Writer Mashup the night before.
  • Somewhat amused that I only just discovered that Heroes has quite successfully debuted on BBC2 - having seen it all already (not even with Bittorrent, which I've never gotten along with - just on your regular run of the mill video sharing / aggregating sites) and not actually having a TV of my own.
  • "reality-industrial complex" - the conspiracy between advertisers, television and celebrity magazines to prolong the Big Brother "phenomenon" far beyond its natural lifespan.
  • "fluffin' o' nuthin'" - an insect without readily evident hallmarks of evolutionary fitness; those prone to fly into surfaces at speed, flail wildly, and die.
  • The Dumbness Of Crowds - thinking a lot at the moment on when, where, and how communities are appropriate, and how they work best.
