Boxr is the product of my fellow Mind Candies at Hack Day 2007.
It came about from an ambitous plan of Mike's to create a location-based mobile game, which is awesome but crazy. I suggested that payphones (with their conveniently static locations) might make good substitutes in the meantime, and hence Boxr was conceived of.
Essentially it's a game of Domination - capture a payphone (by calling us from it, and entering your team ID) and it's your territory until someone else claims it, slowly earning you points for the duration of the game. It plugs into a lot of clever technologies in the meantime to track how many phones teams are able to capture.
Anyway, it's not really fully functional yet - in some ways it seems like the hardest thing to do will be getting a list of payphone numbers - but needless to say it's an awesome acheivement from the men of the moment, Ben Burry & Mike Jewell. I'm proud to have, uh, created the above image! Go team!
